High functioning depression looks like waking up, everyday, knowing you have somewhere to be, but not having the energy or willpower or motivation to get there.

Staring at the wall, dreading putting your feet on the ground.
Closing your eyes trying to squeeze in just a few more moments of rest, that doesn’t make you feel well rested.
Lying there, unable to move, because your arms and body feel just that heavy.
“Did the kids eat? Who’s going to help them get dressed? …there’s cereal I guess.”
Not being able to explain to your employer that you were late just because you’re….tired.

“Should I do my hair? Wait…did I brush my teeth?….I think I forgot to shower…” all basic, small things that seem to take up too much energy…
Constant fatigue.
Isolated tears.
Then picking yourself up….and just…going.
