I heard this story about this girl who confessed to the guy she was dating that she had contracted an STD that was incurable and if he was ok with that.
His response was, “Is it something you can see?” She said…well no and he said, “oh, then that’s fine.”
Ok FIRST OF ALL! Absolutely not, ok. If this ever happens to you…RUNNNN as far as you can because that means he is A OK with contracting a disease as long as it’s not visible. Which means he’s ok with GIVING YOU A DISEASE BECAUSE YOU CAN’T SEE IT. Sexual health is something we don’t talk about because “we aren’t supposed to be having sex before marriage” so our parents don’t talk to us about it. I was fortunate enough to have a mom teach me about sex and human anatomy at 13. (Don’t judge my mother, this is how I’m able to educate others!)
Know yourself better than anybody else (maybe besides your doctor but….)
Know the ins and outs of your body. Examine everything you have, every crevice and crack, use that $800 iphone to help you see the places you can’t see. lol. So that way when something “interesting” pops up on your body you know its time to schedule an appointment with the doctor. Keep track of how your feeling, physically. Some STDs don’t have symptoms and thats super scary! But thats why its important to get tested before and after new sexual partners. My mom once told me, don’t let anybody get to know you until you know yourself. Even if that means using a handheld mirror while your in the shower or laying in bed. And I’m going to say this….MASTURBATE. You can’t expect somebody else to know how to please you and YOU don’t even know how to please you. That just…doesn’t make any sense.
2. Educate yourself.
Read up on stuff. It seems like new shit pops up out of nowhere all of a sudden nowadays. There’s this new strain of STDS they are dubbing “Super bugs “…..SUPER CHLAMYDIA. SUPER SYPHILIS. Like…this shit is resistant to anti biotics. Who comes up with this stuff??? I don’t know…but I DO KNOW that I don’t want a disease that has super strength. You should at least know what they look like so you can know the different between something hormonal or natural and something that just ain’t right.
3. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!!!
Ask questions about things you don’t know. If you see a funny bump on his penis ASK WHAT THAT SHIT IS!!! Do some research to familiarize yourself with the human body and things that may look like something but might actually be something else. I remember I seen a penis and it had funny looking bumps on it and I almost lost my shit…until I found out alot of penises have them and they’re completely harmless. lol. (It was Something called pearly penile papules, I thought it was like genital warts but its not…this is why education is important!) But when you see something like is definitely bring it to your partners attention and ask him…” What’s up with this…?” Guys too, if you’re having sex with a girl and her vagina has a twang to it…definitely inquire what the issue is. A smell doesn’t mean she’s dirty, it might mean her pants or her underwear were the wrong fabric or too tight, or she just used to wrong soap and her PH balance is off.
We have one body, we have to take care of it because nobody else is going to. Nobody will care about you like you care about you. Except for me, I care about you. Hence why I’m sharing this with you now. 🙂 You know…not everybody gets STD’s because they want to…I mean…nobody gets them because they want to, but just because they have one doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have love. Allow your partner to be honest with you, make sure you’re educated on what you might be dealing with and decide whether or not that’s something you can live with. There are people in happy relationships living with HIV and herpes, its definitely not the end of the world. Now with the couple in the story, …on the other hand its cute that he accepted her for who she is and all that good stuff, but make sure you ask ALOT of questions and get tested together.
